A few years ago, we made the decision to leave city life behind and move to upstate New York in search of something slower, quieter and more connected to nature. We were tired of the crowds and wanted fresh air, open space and a home surrounded by the kind of beauty that makes you appreciate everyday life. We found that in our little home, surrounded by a garden we love and a house that is very much a work in progress.
I’ve always been creative – a builder, a problem-solver, and someone who creates what we need instead of waiting to find it.
The idea for Canvas22Creations started when I was 22 years old and didn’t have a lot of extra money to decorate my apartment. I would paint furniture and decor that I found at yard sales to give them new life while also keeping my creativity alive. At the time, I was just beginning my career in advertising, which I was really focused on.
Then I got married, started a family and life became busy with work and kids. I’m a little sad to say that I didn’t create nearly as much during those years.
Now that my kids are a little older, and we’ve moved upstate, I’ve found myself creating again – building things for my home, designing artwork and finally bringing to life the ideas that I’ve carried with me for so many years.
What started as creative projects and ideas for our own home, slowly became a collection of things I wanted to share with others – from original artwork and handmade decor to DIY projects, healthy recipes and natural products we genuinely use.
Some days I design personalized “Home Sweet Home” signs that I know another family would love in their space. Other days I turn one of my photographs into a printable line drawing, build something I desperately need for the house but can’t find in any stores or mix up bottles of natural bug spray to keep mosquitos and ticks away.
Everything on this site is original and personally inspired by the things I create, use, love or experience in my life.
This space isn’t about doing one thing perfectly – I certainly don’t claim to. It’s about creating a life filled with creativity, curiosity and ideas worth sharing.
